Godalming Swimming Club is a non-profit making club whose primary aim is to improve competitive swimming ability and to offer competitive swimming against other local clubs, whilst retaining the cost of membership at an affordable level. The club’s ethos is built upon teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline and self-esteem and it is hoped that each of our members will maintain and build upon these attributes in later life.

Godalming Amateur Swimming Club is a medium size competitive swimming club based at Broadwater Leisure Centre, Farncombe, Godalming, Surrey.  New members to the club are always welcome; for further information please contact the Membership Secretary

The club was founded over 25 years ago and has since grown into a friendly, medium-sized competitive club. Swimmers train at Godalming Leisure Centre with senior swimmers training 5 times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The club attends local galas and competes in the Rother, Southcoast & Thames Water League. Other trophies we compete for are the Sprake, Gemini, Broadwater & Pepperpot.

What have you done today to make you feel proud? click here to see some of our memories for 2008 - Special thanks to Daniel, Jamie & Andrew for putting this presentation together.

We compete at many galas throughout the year, which are held at our home pool or we travel away. We try the cater for all levels of competitive swimmers and vary the levels of competition we swim at,  thus giving as many swimmers as possible the chance to compete for the club.  We do ask that if your child is picked to compete that they do attend so that the whole team is not let down.

Additionally we have a very active group of swimmers who enjoy competing at all levels of Open meet galas - this is a competition gala where you swim under the clubs name but for yourself and hopefully doing well enough to receive medals or ribbons.

Each year we also run our very own Open meet an encourage as many clubs/ swimmers as possible to come along and compete.

Inter-Club Galas.

Our two main club galas are the Spring Sprints, held in May and the Club Championships which are held in November. All swimmers are expected to swim both events to give members a chance to win medals and certificates as well as a chance to see their own improvement.

Presentation evening is held in February with many trophies awarded to the swimmers for all their efforts and hard work.

Social and Fun.

We are a friendly club at which everyone encourages each other.  We guarantee a new friend will be made on the first night.  In the summer we have a fun splash and B.B.Q.  During the Christmas break, we hold a club night with fun races.  Additionally we hold regular squad outings, themes for these include go-karting, donutting & ten pin bowling.

Masters.

For those of you who are a little older and keen to swim, we have a very successful masters squad. Some compete in competitions all over the country whilst others just train to keep fit.

Interested?

Then join us by emailing Barry Wright to arrange a time to come down to the pool and give it a go!.  An adult must accompany all children under 16 on their first visit.

We would like to thank the Royal Bank of Scotland once again this year for their very generous sponsorship and their continued support.
